History
· Opened in September 1947 by H. Clay Earles, Martinsville, originally a dirt track, is one of the oldest continuously-operating race tracks in the United States.
· The first NASCAR-sanctioned race at Martinsville was on July 4, 1948.
· The first NASCAR Sprint Cup race was Sept. 25, 1949.
· The track was paved in 1955.
· The first 500-lap event at Martinsville was in 1956.
· Concrete corners were added atop asphalt in 1976.

Matt Kenseth: Inadmissible, honteux, incroyable est la non-sanction de Matt Kenseth, qui vient de montrer à tous que c'était un faux calme, voire un fou dangereux lorsqu'il sort de ses gonds. Toujours se méfier de l'eau qui dort. Ce n'est pas tant la violente agression qu'il a sur le champion 2012 qui est inquiétante, c'est son comportement. Quand on a peur après un accident de voiture, on va pas tous péter la gueule au conducteur d'en face, fût-ce sur circuit ou en dehors. Quelqu'un qui ne sait maîtriser ses nerfs ainsi, préméditant son attaque à l'abri du regard des officiels, attaquer par derrière, je cite, selon un téléspectateur, "comme une lopette" ,en traître, Keselowski est impardonnable également de sa part. Kenseth l'aurait fait dans les stands, devant les officiels, ça aurait déjà été limite, mais il aurait été ceinturé avant par les officiels et autres. Comme il a vu que Hamlin ne réussissait pas à atteindre Keselowski, Kenseth prémédite son acte d'aller attaquer dans le noir entre deux camions, comme un vulgaire voyou le driver de la #2. C'est ça qui est impardonnable. Et ce qu'il y a de plus impardonnable, c'est que la NASCAR ne sanctionne pas - à l'heure ou ces lignes sont écrites - Matt Kesnseth.
