• The win is Busch’s 31st career Sprint Cup victory, his second of the season and second at Kentucky. The Las Vegas native has now won two out of the last three races, with Kentucky being just his seventh start of the season after returning from injury.

• After rolling off the starting grid in ninth, Busch soon made his way to the front. Following a lap-20 caution, he jumped from eighth to second in a matter of a lap.

• Lightning-fast service by Busch’s M&M’s Crispy team during the competition caution called on lap 30 put the No. 18 out ahead for the restart on lap 36.

• Busch led the next 61 laps, until a challenge from Brad Keselowski dropped him to second. However, Busch rallied to take back the lead on lap 125 and would dominate most of the next 100 laps.

• Several late-race restarts and pit stops shuffled the running order for what turned out to be an exciting dash to the finish. Joey Logano had taken the lead on lap 225, but Busch, who had led the most laps, would not be denied on this night. With a little more than 20 laps remaining, Logano and Busch found themselves side by side and swapping the lead for several laps. Finally Busch took the top spot for good on lap 248, leading the final 19 laps and bringing home another win that again bolstered his Chase hopes.

• With the maximum of 48 points scored, Busch now sits in 35th place in the standings, just 87 points out of the all-important 30th place with eight races remaining in NASCAR’s regular season.

• The race was also a stellar night for JGR, with Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth finishing third, fourth and fifth, respectively. This marks the first time all four JGR cars have placed within the top-five in the same race.
